Introducing my new eight-week yoga and mindfulness course!

Lochside alder, Amoghavira

The practice of mindfulness involves paying attention to our experience, just as it is so that we can open to the fullness of each moment, and by extension, to the fullness of life.

However, to taste the greatest benefits of mindfulness, it is not only paying attention that matters, but how we pay attention.

In my new eight-week course, integrating yoga and mindfulness, we will explore seven different attitudes that we can intentionally cultivate on the mat to improve our everyday lives off the mat. These attitudes, described by Jon Kabat-Zinn as being foundational to the practice of mindfulness comprise non-judging, patience, beginner’s mind, trust, non-striving, acceptance and letting go.

Each week we will explore a different attitude through our practice which will include asana (physical yoga postures), breathwork, meditation and reflection, supported by poetry and music.

In the final week of the course we will integrate and celebrate all that we have learnt and reflect more deeply on how we can bring these attitudes into more and more of the moments that make up our lives.

I’m really excited to be offering this course as I’ve been working with the attitudinal foundations in my own practice over the past year and have found this framework such a wonderful way to integrate personal practice and daily life.
